Why Golden Triangle packing is different
Delhi, Agra and Jaipur each bring their own packing quirks. Delhi turns genuinely cold and smoggy between November and February, while Agra and Jaipur stay warmer with strong midday sun. The Taj Mahal runs on strict security rules: no large bags, tripods, or food: and shoes come off (or shoe covers go on) at the marble mausoleum. Add fort and mosque dress codes in Jaipur and Delhi, and a generic packing list won't cover it. This checklist does.
Best time to visit, and what it means for packing
October through March is the comfortable window for all three cities, with pleasant daytime temperatures that make the Red Fort, Amber Fort, and the Taj Mahal's grounds genuinely enjoyable to walk. Delhi is the outlier within that window: its air quality drops noticeably from November into February, so pack the pollution mask even if Agra and Jaipur's skies stay clearer the same week. April through June turns all three cities hot, often past 40°C in Agra and Jaipur by midday, which makes an early sunrise visit to the Taj Mahal less about photography and more about simply avoiding the worst of the heat. The July–September monsoon brings humidity and occasional heavy downpours rather than constant rain, so a packable rain layer covers most scenarios without needing full wet-weather gear.
